Home Sales Parties

!! Have a Catalog Party soon !!

!! A wonderful way to earn extra money and have fun doing it !!

Catalog sales can be very rewarding - and very profitable.  What is really nice is if you can combine your catalog sales with jewelry parties.  This way you are able to take advantage of the two best methods of selling jewelry.  Catalog jewelry sales and home jewelry parties - a great combination for success and profits!  Making it work is a great challenge so take your time, give it some thought and understand going in that you will have to do the selling - the catalogs by themselves will present the jewelry - and the prices, but they won't sell the products.

Think about it - right now before you start - let me go over some things that will make the difference between success and failure for you in catalog sales.  There's no doubt that catalog sales work and work very well, but the technique has to be right and it has to be suitable for you.  Here are some issues to consider:

Your catalogs are both your biggest assets and your largest expense!  People will want to borrow your catalogs, take them home, show them around - etc.  You simply must remember that if you don't have your catalogs - you are out of business.  Get catalogs, mark them clearly as yours with good contact information and then guard them just like you do your purse or car keys.  Use the catalog CD or print copies of pages out for people to look over instead of "lending" out your printed versions.  Don't forget you can always send people to "The Silver Depot" and they can browse the store.  The only see the full retail prices when they browse because they don't have member accounts.  They can browse and look at jewelry from any computer which has internet access.   When you take an order - use your receipt book and collect for the sale right then.  It's simply to easy to take an order, place the order and then the customer "change" their mind or forget they ordered it.  Let them pay you when you take the order.  We emphasize quick turn-around on orders and average 7 -10 days throughout most of the year.  Get the order, place your order with us as quickly as you can (we don't require a minimum amount for orders) and make sure you take the item right back to the customer.  Returning to deliver an item is a great way to visit with your customer again and to sell something else.  Keeping in touch with your customers will pay off for you over and over again.  It's a great idea to take something different with you when you go to deliver.   Take your deliveries directly to your customers - don't delay.  Call them, schedule an appointment and deliver.  This is a great time to sell additional products.  Make sure you take all of your materials with you when you go, be ready!  If necessary, you can setup drop shipping directly to customers.  This saves you from the delivery and usually will be slightly quicker, but it prevents that extra visit with the customer which can be so valuable.  Make sure you call and contact your customers to make sure they know the status of the order they have placed with you.   This part is really a customer service feature and will make you stand out from the crowd.  We constantly hear "horror" stories about slow deliveries.  Avoid them!

Catalog Sales for Profit

You can make some very nice extra money selling jewelry from our catalogs.  We use them all of the time to encourage additional sales and to make a complete presentation.  Let's face it, with over 22,000 items available for sale, you simply can't carry them all around - even if you could afford it!  Catalog sales need to be done correctly to be effective - just like anything else, hard work and good techniques will make this work for you.  Here are some guidelines for success:
  • Keep your catalogs clean and neat -  never, ever show up with catalogs that are worn, tattered or ripped.  Guard them as if they were tools and very valuable tools at that.  They are expensive, treat them accordingly.

  • Practice finding items in the catalogs - look through the catalogs enough to become familiar with where items are pictured and where items which go together or work together are located.  Pendants and earrings often go together, find them in the catalogs.

  • Pick out personal favorites in the catalogs - find items you really, really like and remember where they are in the catalogs, when you start your presentation use these items to get rolling.

  • Try to show items with bright colors and contrast - black onyx and silver, paua shell and silver, red stones - these all show up very well in catalog pictures.  Color really makes your presentation snap!

  • Prepare your presentation carefully - practice your presentation.  Make sure you talk about delivery times, warranties, product quality and design.  It's sterling silver - .925 sterling - be proud of it!

  • Close your presentation on a positive note - once you have presented the catalogs, your own sales pitch and the other details surrounding ordering, warranties and delivery times, make sure you get their feedback, have them touch the catalogs, make suggestions and give you advice - then complement them on their choices, their prompt payment, their solid, encouraging advice and then close down.  Make sure you close with good things to say about them - not the jewelry and not what you are doing - but positive things about them.  You want them to have a very good taste left in their mouth about you and, hopefully they will be looking forward to you coming back.

Requirements for Catalogs Sales

To become successful in catalog sales you are going to need some supplies and some practice.  It's doesn't take too much practice - and it doesn't take too many materials or supplies.  Here are some examples.
  • Catalogs - you will need to buy some catalogs.  Get as many as you can afford.  You will need to have them available for our use during your presentations, for distribution to others and to pass around at parties.  See our catalogs here.
  • Catalog CD - use this as much as you can.  People with a CD player in their computer should be able to browse and print from the CD.  Remember, we don't place any contact information on the CD's or on the catalogs.  You should make sure you have marked and identified your catalogs and CD's.
  • Our store- you can refer people to the store and encourage them to browse through the jewelry items.  They can see the jewelry individually and they can browse the catalog pages.  Once again, the store shows no contact information so make sure they have your information.
  • Referral number -  you may request and get a referral number which you can promote and give to people. This is used as a promotion code which people enter after buying something at the store.  This insures that you are given credit for the sale.  More information is available in the Referral sales section.
